The beginning of Altra was simple.

A couple of passionate runners and a shoe they knew they needed... which didn't exist... A shoe that went against the status quo. Spoiler: They didn't really care. They didn't mean to start a company, but when no one else would make the shoe they needed... they built it themselves.

To us, running has never just been running

It's an escape, a challenge, a community... it's a slingshot for the rest of your life. Runners didn't need another running shoe. What they needed was so much bigger.
